Sleep

Sleepless, I held you in my arm,

My dark prince of twisted innocence,

Eyes cast upon me prevail without harm,

As we lay with the scent of rose incense

Yet beside me you rose again to leave,

Deity I wish to conquer eludes me,

I wept as the door closes, my heart heave,

Alone I ponder in my wake and I see

You left teaching me about sleeping,

That the stronger wins by hard choice,

The stubborn fool I am, empty and weeping,

Lost through excuses and denied by your voice

The character of Master Onion

DSCN5632

Hear a story of great value,
Dying in teaching and known by few,
Story of love in days of old,
Story my heart in morals it hold

I show to you the Art of Love,
Cometh through a Filipino Dove,
In nature blessed I write it down,
Throuh my window sill it flit then sown

This story I write to you then,
From me, the Master Onion of Pen,
Shall bring to life this soul sweet tale
Friendship, Honor, Love and jug of ale

The Fifty Sheets challenge

DSCN5625Page 1

This day I challenge myself to come up with a story-poem about Love within fifty white lined sheets of a little notepad. Each page will embrace the lines fully without overflowing, along with an illustration to add to the tale. Each page will tell the story about the characters within, but the primary will be the lovers: Mariang Mais and Juan Ampalaya, and their journey of romance.

This story was inspired through Anna, a dear friend of mine who about a year ago was in a relationship. As her friend, it was my duty to tease and support her in her romantic undertakings. The idea was created as a way to make us laugh. But in the end to make her laugh as they went their separate ways.

I haven’t re-visited the idea until recently when I fell in love. It inspired me to bring the characters to the open. For this I would like to share them as an inspiration for the people who are in love, to the people who believe in love, and for the people who want to be in and stay in love.

I would also like to share this story- poem as I show to you our beautiful custom and tradition of Filipino courtship to which as rigid and old-fashioned at is sounds, is highly romantic and at the same, down-to-earth funny.

This tradition is a dying social custom in the country so before it dies completely let me share what I have learned, and let me share it’s moral values which taught me how to fall for the perfect person to love.

Pink

DSCN5602

Pink, the sweet color for girls,

Like the flowers in water swirls,

Now I feel like dancing slowly,

Something charming and lovely

Pink is a something when I blush,

A shade that makes you hush,

‘Happens before we kiss, you see,

Your Kryptonite being near me

Pink is our color puppy love,

Its innocence flies like a dove,

It’s Nutella in the morning,

It goes well with everything

Lover’s Mantra

Fall stories from heaven into these arms,

Dive deep into pools that reflect true beauty

Fear not the abominating idea of love,

But most fear not the fact that love is returned

Make love letters reminding reasons of existence,

Sowing seedlings of poetry to shape and define

Plant even minute memories in each’s hearts,

Letting it grow well as lovers tend and care

Leave solitude by the doorway and dance in,

The threshold is accepting the coming of spring

Laugh like the rainbow smiling as it turns,

Upside down, spinning colors vibrant from the heart

Kiss like the gently falling of summer rain,

Patting heads of star crossed lovers in blessing

As day ends breathe in the scent of musk and floral

Mind that two hearts embrace love and embrace life

Blue

We made memories of us, ’twas grand
Still I felt blue in us and alone I stand
Full hands yet empty heart I feel
Our dizzying revelry we roll and reel

Was any of it true when I held you?
Was any of it true when I kissed you?
Still, together I stumble in my own feet
You help me up but our eyes never meet

Life’s honey colored shades now turn blue
Our memories grand but now without you
I kill endless time as come morning light
Give me strength in this lonesome plight

Beltane Woman

RL001363

You find me maiden full of joy, full of life,

Dancing wildly beneath diamond skies,

Here in this circle I know no strife,

Learned to love and love you without lies

You find me mother full of grace and endless passion,

Our love is planted and pregnant as the moon,

Here in our home building laughter and compassion,

In this nest of love, like birds, we kiss and we croon

You find me the crone full of the world and of wisdom,

Our cup is overflowing countless blessings,

Hear children, my counsel as sage to a kingdom,

Words of the wise will have no misgivings

I am woman, besom of fire- forged and hewn,

Created in conglomeration of water, earth, and sky,

I was made, wakened, and called to love you,

From love I was made and from our love I shall die

The Heart-Shaped Moon

DSCN4403

I laughed to see this pleasant image,

A heart- shaped moon staring back from the dark,

Stark and lit with a thousand prayers,

With a thousand maidens wishing all the same,

But mine was spoken and rejoined this time,

When I was ready to live without.

The moon coincided with my heart,

She told me she and I are in love,

She with love,

And I with you,

I prayed to her for you in my youth,

For the scent of musk in your hair,

The huge personality with the kindest smile,

Large hands and arms yet the gentlest touch.

You sway me with your inner-beauty,

Caress me like the wind on my skin in May,

You cool me with the sweetest words,

Yet heating me with your kisses.

Here I see the heart-moon tonight, smiling.

She tells me, she is in love

Because we are in love

Valentina

DSCN4371

Valentina, my beautiful blood- red rose mink

Once so bountiful in crimson now fade in pink

Tormenting heat robbed you of your passion

Once was red now dulled without compassion

The scorch of dry kisses singed your cheek

Thus in each advances you curl and turn meek

Valentina, share my heart to remove your terror

I too have felt the red of heat in my heart before

I too know the idea of love masked in lust and desire

I too have succumbed, fell in that desperate quagmire

Time and familiarity taught me to doubt in such

Yet not this one- he carries his dyes with his touch

To blush you red when sees you a blank canvass

Let him flush you full crimson in your waking days

Valentina, he will not burn us like the others’ ways

For there is the one hand to hold in the end

The one to shade us from the burning of the sun

The one who will quell us with a cool blow of mirth

Valentina, share my heart and release misgivings

Bloom red once more without lust but with honor

Impetuous scalding heat is temporal, Love is eternal

Valentina is the rose breed name here in the country. It’s petals are always deep red and it blooms in clusters. This summer all the blooms are coming out pink.

Perfect

It’s best to describe you darling, “Perfect”.

Negative words shall not cross this effect,

Present you without ego,without pride,

Any inhibitions and hindrances have died

You wrapped me complete in safety’s embrace,

Showed me that true Love is prayer’s grace,

You showed me a door before I dared not cross,

For previously shallow love gave me such loss

You made me stronger in my beliefs,

Gave courage and hope in your “what ifs”,

You need not convince me more,

You are the one lovebird pair I longed for

Answered prayer gave me you in perfect trust

We honor it and honor us; our Love will never rust,

You speak Love between our fears and goals,

Believe in me, believe in us and Life will have no lulls
